    Proper Use of Release Agents

Brief instructions for using our release agents are below. Please contact us if you have additional questions or a unique application.

As always, consult the product SDS for proper handling and safety precautions prior to using.

    1. Start with a clean mold.

Clean mold surface thoroughly. Mechanical cleaning followed by chemical cleaning provides the best surface for application. Removal of all previous mold release agent is critical.

    2. Apply release

Hold can or sprayer about 12 to 15 inches away from the mold surface and spray a light mist onto the surface. Apply a light coat of release agent. Two light coats are better than one thick coat.  Over spraying may cause a build-up of mold release over a period of time and my cause piece marking.

Liquid releases may be applied with a brush or clean, lint-free cloth. Wipe on a continuous light film. A wet coat should be applied, but release should not run, puddle or drip. Excess release can be wiped away, and re-applied to other areas of the mold.

    3. Allow to dry

After application, allow the mold surface to dry until completely free of diluent. If product does not dry within minutes, this may be corrected by rubbing out the excess release material until a thin, dry film is obtained. Although not essential, heating the mold for 5–10 minutes at 93–204°C (200–400°F) will speed the drying process, improving release and durability of the parting film.

    4. Re-apply as needed

When release becomes hesitant, immediately reapply a single light coat. Spot touch-ups can be performed on high wear or difficult areas. Frequency of application for optimum release should be established by small- scale trial runs under actual operating conditions before use in operation.

    5. Finishing

For optimum performance, components should be cleaned prior to subsequent coating or bonding applications. Typically, routine solvent cleaning of the surface is all that is required. If post-operation finishing or bonding is required, please call 1-800-442-3575 for a product recommendation.

    STORAGE, HANDLING AND DISPOSAL

Store locked up, in a well-ventilated place. Keep container tightly closed. Dispose of contents/container to an approved waste disposal plant. Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice.

    Usable Life and Storage

This product has a usable life of 12 months from the date of production.

    Temperature

For best results use at 70°F (21.1°C) to 80°F (28.4°C). Cold product will cause poor atomization. Do not expose container to temperatures over 120°F (49°C).
